Hey Hey We’re the… Pike-ees?

I thought alts were only true in others’ blogs
Meant for someone else but not for me
Quests were out to get me– that’s the way it seemed
Low-levels haunted all my dreams

Then I saw LFG
Now I’m a believer
There’s not a trace of doubt in my mind
L-F-G
Better believe it
I couldn’t leave it if I tried

I thought alts were more or less a given thing
Seems the more I made, the less I played
What’s the use in trying– I’d get stuck again
Leveled like a snail in the rain

Then I saw LFG
Now I’m a believer
There’s not a trace of doubt in my mind
L-F-G
Better believe it
I couldn’t leave it if I tried

Then I saw LFG
Now I’m a believer
There’s not a trace of doubt in my mind
L-F-G
Better believe it
I couldn’t leave it if I tried…

(Krizzlybear is way better at this than I am.)

  1. *pats* It’s ok Pike, you tried your best. 😉

I love the LFG at lower levels. I’m giving serious consideration of converting my level 29 priest on Turalyon from Shadow to Holy and leveling solely through instances and instance quests or taking my level 26 warrior on Drenden a tank spec. Or maybe I’ll find a fresh server where no one knows me and do it that way.

  2. The LFG (LFD?) Tool is just full of awesome sauce. As a Tank, the longest I’ve probably queued has been for maybe 5-7 minutes, and that was for Deadmines. Every other Instance has been very quick (even Maraudon) and almost as soon as I volunteer to Tank I’m in a party looking at the ‘Ready’ check screen.

I’m only 53 at the moment and Dire Maul is still absent from my ‘specific dungeon’ list, but I can’t wait to Tank that one. Apparently it pops in at 54. I hope so, as I only have a handful of the 50-60 Instances to go to complete the Classic Dungeon Achievement.

  3. Pike, that was at least 20 kinds of awesome. I remember watching the monkeys on tv reruns during the early afternoon when i got home from school before the parent things made it back from work. they were one of my favorites, along with gilligan, and beverly hillbillies. (back then we had like 4 channels to choose from and if the president was giving a speech your night was ruined..)

    i liked smashmouth’s cover of i’m a believer.

I’ll be happier with LFD/LFG when it stops giving me bfd.. lol i hate tanking that one. tho once i found the shortcut i don’t have to fail at the rockhopping segment.

  4. @ Shagrat – I was always the psycho who leveled her Resto Druids solely through instances… this makes it even easier. <3 it.

@ Capn John - I'm just sad that the new LFG didn't come out until my warlock was too high of a level for RFC, or she'd be well on her way to the Classic Dungeon Achievement as well. I think I may attempt a mad dash through Orgrimmar one of these days just so I can snag it.

@ Kattrinsaa - I HATE the rockhopping part! I always fail at it... miserably...

  5. LOLOL…I read this and could hear Mickey Dolenz’ voice singing it.

@Kattrinsaa–I still have problems with the rockhopping at level 80. My pet often makes it while I fail, much to the amusement of the low level I’m running through the place.

@Capn John–I think there should be an achievement from running through the opposing factions city to get to the instance and arriving without having died. Orgrimmar is tough for Alliance. Stormwind isn’t that tough for horde as almost no one is over by Stocks and, if you jump into the canal and swim, you can almost avoid most of the guards.

  6. Gimmlette-Getting through the canal area is easy. It’s getting through the main gates and trade district that’s damn near impossible. I did it before the added the docks for Northrend. The corpse run from Eastvale Logging Camp is NOT fun. D:

  7. I’m doing the same thing now with a druid tank/healer….CURSE U PIKE AND YOUR DRUIDISHNESS!!!

  8. Stockades is fairly easy for horde now. Come in the “back” way. Go north along the coast from westfall until you see the stormwind harbour. There are only a couple of guards to avoid on the zig-zag up the ramps then a mad dash into the instance portal.

Org is probably best raided from the back entrance too. At the barrens/ashenvale/azshara border is a bridge into org, with a small group of guards. Once inside its a fairly clear run through the valley of spirits, in past the flightmaster then into the cleft of shadow and dive through the instance portal.

I’ve done both most recently as a ~60 DK with no deaths. I’ve also done them on lower characters with only a little corpse dragging. Its much better on the 100% speed mount.
