My life got flipped, turned upside down…
So that bat minipet? Yeah. I’ve been wanting a bat minipet since before Blizz announced one.
So they announced it, and all excitedly I scheduled a special “Mirkblood Run” with my guildies so we could go get it. Of course, this run isn’t until towards the end of this “Ten Day Time Period” that Blue told us we’d have, but no worries, I figured…
And of course that is the day that an hour before the scheduled run, my entire character decided to glitch and become unplayable.
Flash forward to this morning. Tawyn is still glitched and Blizz has sent me another e-mail telling me to delete my WTF folder and basically do all the stuff I’d already tried. Frantically I sent in another GM ticket and went to work.
I came back from work. Had a nice letter from Blizz telling me that they’d moved my character and I was unglitched now.
Logged in and was greeted with the middle of Dustwallow Marsh (Blizz really does like to be random.) But… I was fixed!
Instantly hopped into LFG. I figure with Tuesday morning maintenance tomorrow, that boss will not be around for much longer. “LFG New Kara Boss. Please LFG New Kara Boss. Okay, I will pay gold to everyone in the raid for the New Kara Boss.”
An hour went by. Finally managed to get a group started. Got a whole group going except… healers.
Twenty minutes went by. No healers. People in the group mysteriously started to go offline or have other things to do.
Disbanded group. Combed through LFG again.
“LFM for Full Kara Clear including new Boss, then g2g!”
Gasp! Hallelujah!
Leapt into the group. There were only about four of us but the group leader/main tank seemed to know what he was doing and he had a full-blown group of ten within about five minutes. We all rushed to the stone, most of us excitedly talking about getting that new boss.
We go into Karazhan.
We wait a bit.
…
Tank comes in over Raid Chat.
…
…
“Um, guys… I forgot… I’m saved to Shade already. And now you’re all saved there too.”
Seriously, what did I do to get this kind of karma? Did I roll on a caster weapon? Did I melee something to death? Did I put points in Pathfinding by accident? Forgive thy hunter, she knows not what she did =(

That does, truly, suck.
I thought that you would only be saved if you downed a boss, though? Just entering under someone else’s raid ID wouldn’t save you to that, would it?
Just remember, the tide comes in when it’s finished going out. I bet that when you DO get everythign working OK again, you’ll be rolling 100 on all the Hunter drops 🙂

I can empathize, though. I’m deployed in Germany, at the moment, and my laptop won’t play WoW. I haven’t been able to play for the past 2 months and I’ve missed all the Scourge Invasion, Brewfest, Hollow’s End and everything…

It’s not what you did. It’s what you NOT did!
You did not have a macro “Please everyone type /raidinfo and check than our current raid target is NOT listed. If there is a number next to it, you are saved and cannot come”
You did not enter first or last. If you enter first, you get a new instance and the saved guy enter into a different one. If you wait until others go in, you can ask “are there horses inside”, and if they answer “F@#$ someone is saved”, you can still leave group.
I’m really sorry for you and love your blog, but not double-checking on other people (trusting them) is much bigger mistake than having 20/20/21 talent.

I know the feeling, I’ve procrastinated my tail off about getting my pet-collector rogue into Kara for the bat (he wasn’t geared enough, after getting 3/4 of the new Scourge invasion set I’m hoping he’ll be fine now). I was going to “LFG-Kara” with him last night, but slept in late & then wound up tanking ZA on my druid for the guild. Now I’m waiting for maintenance to finish & hoping Mirkblood will still be there to give me another chance.

I see you said you went into the instance, but I’ve seen it happen where you go in before someone else who’s saved to a different raid ID, and you end up in different instances even though you’re in the same group. Do you have a raid ID showing on your raid tab now?

@ Dave – Weird o.O Also, being saved to a boss is what happens in a raid so you can’t farm the same boss over and over. Shade of Aran is one of the bosses =P
@ Rilgon – It is truly a shiny axe, I think I’d keep Legacy though, but it’s a tough call.
When you went in, did you get a message that said you are now saved to this instance? That’s why I asked if you had a raid ID showing on your raid tab.
@ Avaric – Yep, I was saved. I remember because I found it odd at the time.
Bummer. Hopefully you can get in there today. Personally, I think it was really dumb on Blizzard’s part to put this special one time only boss in an instance that you can only get into once a week anyway.
I’m fairly sure Mirkblood will still be there today; I believe he’s tied more to the invasion than the Hallow’s End event. (Could Blizzard have intertwined these two events to make them any more confusing? I doubt it.)
They said 10 days or so, I believe he’ll be there through the next reset next week, and maybe on Wednesday as well.

Ouch. I’d say at this point if the boss isn’t there when you go with a new group after the maintenance that you petition blizz as the glitch is what prevented you from doing it in the first place and that took them multiple days to resolve.

I saw you looking for healers in Trade and was glad you’d gotten the glitch fixed finally. I was really hoping you’d get a go at him. :/
