Ask Pike (So Not a Cop-Out Post)

I’ve been hit with a wonky case of writer’s block (blogger’s block?) lately. So I come to you to say… ask me something! Hunter question? Ask it. Personal question? Ask it (well, so long as it’s not too personal…). Questions regarding my thoughts or opinions on WotLK, RP, non-WoW games, or the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow? Ask them too! Just leave a comment and I will make a follow up post in a couple days responding to them all.

/wonders what sorts of Pandora’s Box she has potentially opened here, before hitting the “Publish Post” button.

  1. Hey Pike,
what is your opinion about Blizz shipping WotLK with AotV intensionally broken, and a 41-point SV talent unimplemented?

I feel sick two days now. I understand that if the game is going to be released 13.11 they will have to send it to a plant (“going gold”) to actually print the DVDs, but shouldn’t they give their testers a date upon which they can actually influence things and changes?

Maybe WotLK has already gone gold. Because, personally, I just can’t think of any “technical limitation” that disallows the coding of a passive regen in AotV.

    Cheers

  2. @Olaffjelltop: How is AotV broken? The current implementation is great, and with a scaling damage penalty as has been suggested on the beta forums, it would be PERFECT.

@Pike: How excited are you about Naxx on a scale of 1-10? 😀

  3. broken as of it’s PvP aspect. PvE wise is great. And I loved their mechanic. Adds more fun than switching it and letting it on.

the scaling dps penalty is idd another great suggestion. doesn’t cripple you when you desperatelly need it, hurts when you are near filling… nice…

  4. Pike, I for one really loved the "With All Due Respect to Alamo
Welcom 2 Pike teeches u 2 play HUNTAR!" post, especially that part "hunters need mana but R U A CLOTHIE! I DIDN'T THINK SO!" would really love to read more posts about hunters written like that <3

  5. @Olaffjelltop

Hey wait, what? How can they ship Wrath with a new talent broken, especially when all the new talents will be included with the 3.0 patch before Wrath even hits the shelves?

    @Pike

What kind of gaming did you do, and characters did you enjoy, before WoW that you think led up to you playing five million hunters at once? 🙂

  6. How about your thoughts on the Auction House and the economy of the servers you play on and what could happen with LK after it’s release?

  7. We know that you are completely sick with obsession over the huntar class, as am I. But what other char class is your second passion, what do you play when you are unhuntarded? Rogues for me are a very fun hobby, I like being very very sneaky. And people tend to underestimate my sneakiness.

    cheers.

  8. I have yet to see you discuss one of the topics on the mind of every hunter: What pets will you have after 3.0, and what pets do you think will become the favorites?

    Ganieda and Schrodinger, Argent Dawn

  9. I wonder, if you have ever tried to fully embrae the huntard-within, and try speccing and gearing for a mainly Melee hunter, jsut to confuse people, or experiment with solo instances?
I’m working on that on an alt, and while not very effective out in PvP or regular questing, it’s an interesting thought-experiment on how far you can take the class “against the devs” by stacking +str, +sta, and using a pet like an owl/Gorilla for Aoe management.
    ((non-alt hunter, Nookni of Farstriders))

  10. Since you love to RP and seem to have background stories for all of your hunters, how will that change/evolve when wrath hits?

  11. @ Julie – I can answer that one right now, with one simple word:

    Work.

*glances forlornly at her 675889/779700 XP at level 69, sheds a single tear, and heads out to work*

  12. what should I do with my badges? I have enough to get the Scaled Drakeskin Chestguard. should I or just use my badges for gems and sell it for gold?

  13. Hunter Debate??

I say you and me use our blogs to debate some hunter issues and designs! 🙂

It can be an epic battle, where we take turns with topics. Whomever chooses the topic, the other choses which side they want! 🙂

Then…a Poll to decide the winner?

Argue, Arue rebuttle or any creative design you have to offer! 🙂

Let me know if you are interested!

  14. Hell, I’ll jump on the roleplaying bandwagon because, well, we can never emphasize too much the fact that we are roleplayers!

A couple of questions for fodder. How do you personally undergo character creation when you envision a new character on a roleplaying server? How have you roleplayed a hunter in the past? And what other ways can you envision roleplaying a hunter, especially when you take into account racial tendencies and perceptions?

  15. Are you excited or dissapointed about the changes to owls (or, well, birds of prey) away from being a dps pet with aoe tanking abilities to a cunning pet with a disarm?

  16. I’d also like to know which pet in Wrath that you prefer.

How will you you spending your first few days in Northrend?

    What color are your underpants?
-I don’t really want to know I just asked because somebody had to.

  17. @olaffjelltop: There’s loads of ways the coding can be blocked. Even if they wanted it to, say, add a dodge chance to it (circa AotM), there’s plenty of things that could prevent it. I long ago decided to stop judging code without having looked at it. The intelligence of the coders, now…

    @Pike: R U A CLOTHIE!

  18. Going to be getting my hunter to 70 in the next couple of weeks.

She’s a troll, hence prefers to use bows.

I probably have no prospects for any actual raids, probably good for all 5 mans/heroics, and lotsa PvP.

What is your recommendation for a weapon? PvP and get an Xbow? Snag an awesome gun from me main (engineer)?
Get the Valanos Bow like everybody else?

And while I’m at it, any other bits of gear I should be on the look out as a near 70?

  19. Yo Pike,

I was wondering if you might be willing to address the issue of makeouts in your blog, and whether or not you would have them with me.
