@Toni - I didn't say Hellfire Peninsula was terrible, silly! =O I simply said that I didn't like it as much as the other zones.

How could you possibly say Hellfire Peninsula is terrible? I'm sorry but it's amazing. The quests are great, the landscape isn't surrounded in trees to get lost in, thus making it so easy to travel around, and in my opinion, the best zone in outland. By far.

I just want to say how much I've loved this series.

As for Nagrand, I think it garners so much love because the rest of Northrend feels so harsh and alien. I mean, you have scorching sky and the rust red earth of Hellfire Penisula, the eerie, ghostly forests of Terokkar, the blue craziness of Zangermash and then you come to somewhere lush and green and full of eleks. I have to admit that I'm a fantatical Nagrand-lover. But then I've noticed my attitude to Azeroth is very similar to my attitude to the world - show me a green bit and I'm insanely happy :)

Great Posts! thanks!

I am sorry but I have to call shenanigans; I can not believe that out of the billions on this planet, that TWO other people would like jousting/vehicles. That is just way too high a number to be credible.

I was not a big ZD fan; my favs are Hinterlands, WinterSpring, Nagrand, SB - The latter two for their obvious similarities - pretty, kill lots of things, skin them, get the meat.

I love Zul'Drak. I did nearly every quest there, all ones not in an instance.

Favorite EK zone-Hinterlands
Favorite Kalimdor zone-The Barrens
Favorite Outland zone-Blade's Edge Mountains (it's the dragons)
Favorite Northrend zone-I love them all, especially Zul'Drak and Dragonblight.

Visually speaking, Storm Peaks is likely my favorite zone in Northrend, and with plenty of great quests as well. I can still recall the first time I finished the Hyldnir questline. I almost immediately wanted to go over to Halls of Lightning and stomp Loken's face in; it was a reaction I rarely get out of a quest.

A very close runner-up, though, has to be the Howling Fjord. Upon entering Northrend for the first time, it just grabbed me in a way the Tundra didn't quite achieve. That's compounded by the awesomeness that is Vrykul. I still recall taking the boat ride in for the first time, looking up, and seeing the flaming ship in that narrow passageway, hoisted out of the water by harpoon guns. It's like a Vrykul's way of saying "Welcome to Northrend!"

[...] News Sources wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptAnd so we dive into my final entry in this little miniseries of mine: my personal thoughts on Outland and Northrend. Unlike the other two entries in which the zones were sorted North to South geographically, I’m going to go roughly by level on this one; I think it’ll read smoother. So here we go~! Hellfire Peninsula : I’m not even gonna beat around the bush on this one: my main goal with this zone is to get in and get out as quickly as possible. Yeah, I’m not a fan. I just don’t like it.
I love Nagrand, but mainly because it aesthetically reminds me of Mulgore, which is probably my favorite non-snowy Old World zone.

I agree that Zul'Drak is wayyy underrated! It's got some excellent questlines and a whole ton of XPs.

I think my own problem with Borean Tundra is simply that it's so... patchwork, I guess would be the word? The zone doesn't feel internally consistent to me, it's too varied. On the other hand it does have some Tuskarr stuff like giant moai, and The Nexus was the first Northrend instance I did and I liked it a lot. Also while waiting for the group for it to show up I happened across one Old Crystalbark, which was pretty sweet.
