Still Kickin'

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve found it difficult lately to find topics to write about. Largely I think it is because IRL has been interfering with a lot of my WoWing lately. On top of that, I think a lot of changes will be coming to the hunter class soon, and writing a lot of guides at this point would feel premature. So… I wait!

The WoWing that I can get in has been pretty nice, I am slowly working my way into Heroics blues and an epic or two. I’ve done a couple of PuG raids, both 10man and 25man, with varying degrees of success, but I don’t really consider myself a raiding hunter yet. I have more fun doing heroics with my guildies anyway, and I’m looking forward to doing some raiding with them eventually. However, I am in absolutely no rush.

Anyways, this post was mostly to just say /wave, and /sorry for not writing more, and please, if you have any blog post ideas, lemme hear ’em! =D

  1. I dunno, I think it looks better that way. Goes well with the ruled paper/kindergarten motif – like something a child would doodle on the margins instead of doing their assignments or what have you.

  2. You have been kind enough to give us some mega-guides recently (glyphs and pet talents), so you should feel you have deserved a break.

Topics to discuss in the future might include a Wrath version of the Hunter Gems and Enchants guide plus (after any incoming adjustments) a discussion on how Wrath is feeding us items with +AP rather than +hit or +crit.

I have a Hunter in my guild with what in the past I would have considered insane amounts of attack power and I find it a constant struggle to keep my hit rating and critical up. Every time I ding, they take away some of my +crit and since I have only just started doing heroics, I feel my hit rating is awful. I would be interested in knowing what Blizzard intended us Hunters to be wearing in this expansion

  3. Steadfast,

I experienced the same thing, my friend. I ended up using a few leather pieces when rogues weren’t present to get my hit up to cap early on. Then once I started replacing the pieces I had with Hit with the obvious upgrades that would put me below cap, I had to start juggling. Icewalker to boots, +14 hit yellow gems in every slot I could spare, and a solid cloak with around 30 hit got me there.

A lion’s share of the sweet blue hunter quest and rep rewards have loads of crit, ap, and agi. They lack hit, and it gets tough to equip all your goodies while staying capped. As BRK suggests, the Wyrmest honored reward one-hand swords with +26 agi enchants are good options, even if it pains you to not be able to swing around that Runeblade you’re proud of. So is the Sphere of Red Dragon Blood out of Heroic Nexus if you can snag it.

Now that I’m pushing into Naxx and getting some epic gear with better Hit on them, I’ve yet to get to the point where I’ve started gemming for pure crit and AP. I’m only Focused Aim capped at the moment, which means my pet is not. I want to get to 8% from pure gear so that my pet shares it and I can reinvest the talent points from Focused Aim to other places.

  4. I’m glad you’re not stressing at all about guides. The patch will definitely change some things and you’d have to edit it a bit regardless. So, now is the time for us to gather ’round and hear a story!

I was looking at screenshots the other day and came across the one where I leveled a hunter to 10 and met you outside of Ironforge. You and Tux looked mighty impress all big ‘n red like. I bet there are some great adventures you could tell us.

Like the time you both went to Hinterlands and managed to free the baby gryphon from evil troll clutches.

    No?

Ok, how about the time you helped defend Southshore against the evil undead magician that raised himself within your very own graveyard, slaying all that encountered him…

Or the time you got ahold of some critter bites…

Ooooo or a story about the time Tux bit Thrall on the ear!

*sits down quietly in the circle*

  5. I like the banner.

If you absolutely HAVE to add color, use something that looks like crayons. Anything else would feel wrong to me.

You’ve been doing a great job so far and hey, if you don’t have anything that you want to share, it’s cool. Write because you want to rather than because you feel you have to.

  6. You might want to comment on something that’s been on my mind just as much as taking on new content: revisiting old content for fun (and occasionally profit.) I have solo tamed a core hound. I didn’t keep him, but I wanted to see if I could. I’ve two manned Heroic magister’s terrace with a 78 DK friend. (level 80 gorilladin FTW) I’m planning on respecing and going for a solo onyxia kill.
All those are things that one can do by yourself or in a small group… but what about the old raids? I’ve been itching to go back and run the 60 raids that I never got to do(I didn’t hit 60 till after BC.) I’d also love to get two pieces of tier 5… that bonus is invaluable for hunter soloing fun.
What do you want to go back and do?

  7. I love the banner as it is. I also agree with the crayon comment… or even color outside the lines… most kindergardeners haven’t gotten to the inside the lines completely stage yet. 🙂

Don’t feel obligated to post. The day that happens this no longer becomes fun, but work. There are a few days where it was a “I have to log into WoW and go do … ” When that happened I said screw it and read a book or worked on a piece of fiction for the day instead.

Don’t let the blog become work, don’t let WoW become work. These are suposed to be fun. And if you ever get stumped… pics are always a great filler post. ^_^
